Australian Day Awards Recipient: Dalya interview Daniel Hakim
Daniel Hakim was born in Adelaide, Australia to a mother from Alexandria and a father from Cairo. Here he talks with us about growing up in an Ashkenazi environment and coming back to his roots to ensure that his children share his pride in his Egyptian Jewish heritage.
Danny is a two-time world karate silver medalist and holds a 7th degree blackbelt from Japan. He is the founder and chairman of Budo for Peace and Chairman of Israel Life Saving Federation. Danny is also a board member of Maccabi World Union, the Alliance of Middle East Peace, Kids Kicking Cancer, and the Azrieli Foundation.
